Understanding the Corporation Profile Report
Available in certified/uncertified formats, the Corporation Profile Report sets out
the most recent information filed by the corporation on or after June 27, 1992 and recorded
on the Ontario Business Information System (ONBIS). It includes information such as the legal name,
date of formation, address, officers and directors, status, name history or amalgamation information (where applicable).
For detailed information, please review the Guide to the Corporation Profile Report.
Understanding the Certificate of Status
A Certificate of Status will indicate the status of a corporation as of the moment in time it is issued.
It is available only for Ontario corporations or for Extra-Provincial Foreign Corporations.
In the case of Ontario corporations, includes the correct legal name and the date of incorporation or
amalgamation or continuance. The status of the subject corporation will be indicated as either active or
dissolved or cancelled. It may also indicate that the corporation is subject to cancellation for failure to file a Notice.
It will not indicate if the Corporation was dissolved in the past and then revived.

Did you Know:
Corporations exist indefinitely unless cancelled or dissolved.
Information on Corporations whose records have been archived may be ordered from the Ministry of
Government Services.
If a corporation from another jurisdiction carries on business in Ontario, then it must register with
the Ontario Government and is referred to as an extra-provincial corporation. A corporation profile
report may be ordered for extra-provincial corporations registered in Ontario. However, the
director and officer information is not available from the Ontario Corporation Profile Report.
For such information, you must order the Profile Report from the home jurisdiction.
